Lutheran Disaster Response A letter from Linda Frey, local representative of Lutheran disaster response about the situation in Nashville: Hi All, You may be aware of the record breaking flash flooding that occurred in Nashville May 1st and May 2nd. Nashville was just one of 45 counties that qualified for federal disaster relief. Recovery will take quite a long time. Lutheran Disaster Response is helping by providing housing for volunteers traveling to the area to assist in cleanup and rebuilding. The two sites are located in Lebanon and Nashville. Here in Southeastern PA we are collecting supplies to be delivered to Tennessee that will be useful at the housing locations and for volunteers doing the work. Below is the list. If your congregation is able to make donations it will be greatly appreciated by the Lutheran Disaster Response coordinators in Tennessee. Volunteers are also needed. Perhaps you could plan a work team trip to the Nashville area. It can be an inexpensive trip if the gas expense is shared by a few people. It can be a leisurely two day drive, with an overnight stay at a church in Salem, Virginia. In Christ's Love, Linda Linda Frey Being collected: Toilet paper and paper towels (for volunteer housing sites) Coolers (for volunteer lunches and beverages) R95 respirator masks Tools - hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc. Drywall tools - putty knives, 6 inch, 8 or 10 inch and 12 inch taping knives, corner trowels, mud pans, box cutters, drywall saws, drywall screw guns, sanding blocks and sandpaper Painting supplies - brushes, rollers, roller covers, paint trays, blue painters tape, drop clothes, rags R13 insulation, staplers and staples Gift Cards - Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart 2 clothes washers, 2 clothes dryers More Information For information about volunteering, contact Linda Frey at 610-657-4730.
